The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force
175 Bourne Avenue Pooler, GA 31322
Description
In January of 1942, in Savannah, Georgia, the United States Army Air Corps, assigned seven men, without a single aircraft, to a newly formed Eighth Air Force. The Mighty Eighth went on to become the largest air armada in the world and paved the way for the D-Day invasion. Observe uniforms, artifacts and propaganda from post-World War I Germany in the Prelude to WWII exhibit; witness original aircraft and engines like the B-17 Flying Fortress in the Combat Gallery; be amazed at the staggering F-4C Phantom and the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17A On The Ground; and much more.
